DAYA News Bureau, 21st January 2024: This January, the ‘Sinchon’ initiative run by the Durgapur Adda Young Association (DAYA) entered its seventh year. Like the previous years, this year also the ‘Sinchon Divas’ was organized on the third Saturday of January (January 20th) to showcase this indigenous effort of DAYA.
In the 2024 academic year, five class V students who have got though and got chance in the Sincon initiative by virtue of their combined score in written test, interview and socio-economic factors are Avhoy Adhikary, Rajdeep Routh, Rihan Mallick, Rittik Sen, Sk. Rakib; all of them were awarded with prizes for their success in the very beginning of the program. They recited recited poems of Sukumar Roy.
The old students of Sinchon presented two Bengali songs, ‘Bandhu Chal’ and ‘Dakche Aakash’, together, enthralling the audience with acting to the tune and words of the songs. Also, the students of Sinchan presented a new song, “Vuka petay tumi dharmo diyecho gunjay”; this song is written by Rajesh Sen and composed by Sumna Sengupta, both members of the organization.
The students of Sinchan performed the play “Dori Dhoary Maro Taan”, written by Tanuj Ganguly, a secondary examinee this year, and directed and dialogued by Class X Subhra Biswas; both Tanuj and Subhra are students of DAYA’s Sincon initiative.
Sandeep Das in keyboard and Buddhadev Das in octpad took the entire presentation of the evening by the students of ‘Sinchon’ to a different level with their music.
The purpose of the ‘Sinchon’ project and the expectations of the organization around it was depicted by a poem written by Rajesh Sen and recited by Sushmita Sen; both members of DAYA. The host of the program, Kakali Dasgupta, read the poem, “Amader Fuldani”, through which various qualities of the students of Sinchon and their diversities was beautifully drawn by a poem written by Rajesh Sen.
Gifts were handed over to the three support staff of Sinchon.
One of the highlights of the day’s program was the 1358th performance of Lakiji Gupta’s one-man play, “Ma Mujhe Tagore Bana De”, which has created a sensation across the country. About 300 audiences watched this 1-hour play practically stunned; the story of a brilliant student’s life of misery moves everyone present. Lakiji Gupta was presented with a portrait which was drawn by three students of the Sinchon initiative of Durgapur Adda Young Association.The secretary of DAYA, Rajesh Sen in his short speech recalled how the project Sinchon started and how the members are taking it forward.
