DAYA News Bureau, 20th June 2022: On Monday, members of Andal Mor Nagarik Manch took to protest agitation by blocking an overloaded dumper in front of the gate of DVC factory. The protesters claims that the dumpers carrying ashes from Andal’s DVC unit are always overloaded, because of which the ashes spills on the road in various places. As a result, the condition of the road goes into bad shape frequently leading to recurrent accidents. Moreover, the tippling ashes are causing pollution in the area. Repeated appeals to the DVC authority has went into dumb ear, said a protesting local elderly.
One of the protesting youth said, “The road is getting worse mainly due to overloading. Accidents are happening due to fly ash. These ashes are known to cause cancer, tuberculosis and many other diseases. Ashes are flying down the roadside and it is getting into our body through mouth and nose”.
Agitators of Andal Mor Nagarik warned by saying, “We will see by next Wednesday whether the DVC authorities are complying with our demands. If not, we will go into a larger movement”. The protesters finally lifted the blockade in an hour after police and DVC authority gave a verbal commitment to look into the matter with due importance.
