NASA Invites Young Scientist from Durgapur

DAYA News Bureau, 19th July 2022: Aparup Roy from Durgapur has earned the recognition of “Young Scientist” through his achievements. A resident of Gopalmath locality in Durgapur, Aparup created a stir in the scientific circles by inventing a special method of converting plastic into bio-plastic. Not only that, this seventeen-year-old young prodigy has prepared low-cost mosquito repellent using cow dung. In view of these two novel discoveries, NASA has offered to work with this young man from Durgapur.

Class XI Student Aparup Roy with the books written by him

Aparup, a student of class 11, said, “As the use of plastic is increasing pollution and obstructing the drainage system, I have discovered a method to convert plastic into bio-plastic by synthesizing it in a special process. This bio plastic will mix with the soil within 1-2 months. India will reach a pinnacle of development if the government produces this bio plastic in the largest scale.” At a time, when the government is active in banning single use plastics from use, Aparup’s work will definitely help in removing the plastic from our ecosystem if the officials are keen to adopt his technique.

On the other hand, about the production of low-cost mosquito-killing medicine, young Aparup from Durgapur said, “I have seen that in villages, people repel mosquitoes by burning dung cakes. From that idea, I researched about cow dung and developed a mosquito repellent.” Aparup’s research paper has been published in the International Journal of Science and Research. After that, Aparup received a mail from America’s NASA, offering him to work with them.

This wonder kid has already written two books on Chemistry. The two books are ‘Problems in General Chemistry’ and ‘Master ICSE Chemistry Semester 1 & 2’. These books are written in a simple and lucid manner which will be easy to understand. Aparup is hopeful that these two books will be adopted as supplementary textbooks in various schools. He also said that students can use the two books as auxiliary texts for now.

Aparup Roy has already earned the title of India’s youngest scientist by making successive discoveries, writing books and solving mathematical puzzles. His name has also been published in the Mathematical Gazette of Cambridge University as an honorable recognition for solving some of the most difficult and complex problems in mathematics. Besides, this young scientist from West Bengal Bengal has been invited to Harvard University’s ‘Mini PHD program’. Apart from working as an assistant researcher in a research project called ‘EO Dashboard Hackathon’ conducted by NASA, Aprup has also won several medals and accolades in various science competitions.
