Starting from May 10th 2021, Durgapur Adda Young Association (DAYA) opened a 24X7 “Covid Care Helpline” to address the uncontrollable Covid situation in Durgapur and its adjoining areas.
Within 1 hour of the opening up of this helpline, we were flooded with phone calls asking for help of various sorts.
Some called for conducting RTPCR tests at home, some asked for help on getting admitted in hospital which were flooded with corona patients, some asked for doctor’s advice from home, some asked for oxygen support at home, some asked for medicine being supplied at home, some asked for cooked food, some asked for daily grocery-vegetable-fruit delivery at home, even some asked for arranging necessary permission t go out of the town and some asked for help in exhuming the body of those who died out of Corona; it was real chaotic condition in the Durgapur.
Here it must be mentioned that SDJM Durgapur also met us and lauded our effort; it was by their help that we could refill the empty oxygen cylinders with ease.
The helpline was kept open for about 40 days and as the number of Corona patients started became less than 10 cases per day, our helpline was closed down.
