DAYA Observes National Science Day 2021

Durgapur Adda Young Association observed the 2021 “National Science Day” on March 1, in the auditorium of the DIV (Durgapur Ispat Vidyalay) school in the presence of more than three hundred people. Though the National Science Day is observed on 28th February, but sensing that it would be difficult for the students to come on that day due to school remaining closed, the day was shifted on 1st March.

Dr. Anupam Basu, Director, NIT Durgapur, who was the chief guest at the event, explained the difference between science and imagination in very few words and asked students that the two must not be fused as both have its own importance and requirement.

Milan Mukherjee, Associate Professor, TDB College, Raniganj, delivered a PowerPoint slideshow presentation itled “History of the Formation of Earth & the Subsequent Changes”.

Dr. Param Hans Mishra, Chief Operating Officer of IQ City Medical College and Hospital discussed the importance of posthumous body donation for the advancement of medical science. Here it needs to be mentioned that Durgapur Adda Young Association in collaboration with Ganadarpan will henceforth not only distribute ‘Pledge Form’ for posthumous body donation among those interested, but also will ensure that the body donation process of those who have taken the pledge, gets done smoothly after death.

Bharatiya Bigyan O Yuktibadi Samiti volunteers not only showed a number of so-called miracles which Sadhus’ and Babajis’ perform to loot public, but also explained the science behind all those so-called miracles. Live demonstration was given as to how the self proclaimed Godman fools people by falsely depicting simple scientific experiments like rubbing fire on body, swallowing fire ball, lifting rock, floating in air and many others as their divine power.

The members of the organization portrayed the need of developing science consciousness in the society by means of songs written by themselves.

Students of Durgapur Adda Young Association’s ‘Sinchon’ effort handed over a lovely pledge letter, saying that they will always remain focused in spreading science-based rationale in the society. All invited special guests were given a tree sapling as a gift, in a decorated tub.

DAYA is overwhelmed by the support received from the headmasters of several Bengali medium schools in Durgapur in this endeavor of building science consciousness among the next generation.

DAYA is determined to continue its efforts in paving the way for science-based reasoning.
