DAYA Observes International Mother Language Day – 2023

DAYA News Bureau, 22nd February 2023: Social organization Durgapur Adda Young Association observed “International Mother Language Day” on 21st February 2023 through a day-long programme.

At 9 am in Bhasha Shaheed Park located in B-Zone of Durgapur Steel Township, the members of the organization and the students of Jeevan Path Kendra – 1 run by the organization gathered and offered floral tributes to the permanent Bhasha Shaheed Memorial there. At Bhasha Shaheed Park, members of the organization sang a song and students of Jeevan Path Kendra – 1, performed a Hindi poem and a Bengali song in the function organized by the International Mother Language Committee. Sujit Bhuinya, a student of Jeevan Path Kendra – 1, who did not knew to read even three years ago, recited Shahil Kumar’s Hindi poem ‘Jagir’ on his own and enthralling the hundreds of people present there. Keeping the trend of the last two years intact, Durgapur Adda Young Association organized the program of “International Mother Language Day” at the grounds of Bidhannagar Group Housing from 4:30 pm. The ceremony started with wreath laying at the makeshift language martyrs memorial. In the presence of more than one and a half hundred people, 8 cultural organizations along with 14 individual people paid their respects through song-words-poetry in this invitational event. The students of Jeevan Path Kendra – 2 and ‘Sinchon’ project run by Durgapur Adda Young Association also highlighted the importance of Bengali language and mother tongue through songs and poems.

Members of the organization performed two songs; in the first song where the love for the Bengali language was being expressed, in the second song there is an emphasis on the fact that everyone can speak their own language. It is necessary to mention here that the lyrics of both these songs were written by poet ‘Anarjo’ and the music tune of the two songs were given by Sumana Sengupta and Debabrata Das, both are members of the organization.
