DAYA News Bureau, 1st March 2023: On the occasion of National Science Day on 28th February 2023, social organization Durgapur Adda Young Association organized “Hate Kalmay Biggan” (Hands on Science) education program in two schools of Durgapur. The main aim is to develop science consciousness among the students and try to move towards building a society, free from superstitions.
From 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the presence of more than 200 sixth to eighth grade students of Jemua Vadubala Vidyapeeth and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the presence of more than 250 sixth to eighth grade students of Amlajora High School, Mr. Shubashis Dey conducted various hands-on experiments to demonstrate how various science-based laws is being used by a class of people including Babaji-Pirbaba-Sadhu-Sannyas to deceives the common people. Demonstration of lighting a fire without matchstick, how at times each of the five senses deceives us, answering correctly to various questions by a small boy blindfolded, setting fire to the body, eating fire, etc., and subsequently the techniques used behind each of these were also explained to the students in detail in both the programs of the day.
The history and significance of Science Day was explained to the students of the two schools. Subhashis Dey and Rajesh Sen, secretary of Durgapur Adda Young Association, repeatedly reminded that, acceptance without verification means the possibility of being cheated, and there is no such thing as a miracle, there is an objective reason behind everything.
The students present pledge that not only will the practice what they have learned, but will also spread it among their family and friends.
Jemua Vadubala Vidyapeeth Headmaster Shri Jainul Haque urged the students of his school to leave the path of religion and adopt the path of science. Amlajora High School Headmaster Shri Sandeep Chakraborty told the students at the beginning of the program in his school to watch the program carefully and at least rid themselves of superstitions.
With the potency with which the students participate in this day-long effort, the day may not be far away, when the next generation will hold the hands of science in search of reason, stopping the practice of superstition under the shadow of religion.
