Durgapur Adda Young Association (DAYA) organized “Dipak Mukhopadhyay Memorial Photography Exhibition and Competition” in remembrance of DAYA’s governing body member Dipak Mukhopadhyay, who passed away rather untimely last year.
On his first death anniversary, on 19th May 2022, DAYA held the photography exhibition, on the theme, “They Work” at Anand Bihar Recreation Club, in Durgapur Steel Township.
The function started with the remembrance of Dipak Mukhopadhyay. Apart from the secretary of the organization, Rajesh Sen, late Dipak Mukhopadhyay’s two friends, Dr. Soumya Sen Sharma and Arup Ghosh also took part in the commemoration. Several memorable aspects of Deepak Mukhopadhyay’s life were illuminated in this memoir; the aspects of his commune life and his endurance came up. Rajesh Sen elaborated that it is Dipak Mukhopadhyay’s affliction towards photography that made us begin this exhibition and competition so as to keep his memory alive.
31 people took part in the photography exhibition and competition, and 51 photos taken by them got a place in the exhibition. The three best photographers were awarded: Mr. Anjan Majumder, Mr. Dilip Dutt and Mr. Ranjan Chakraborty (the names are not mentioned in the order of 1st, 2nd and 3rd)). Prominent photojournalist Shri Bishwanath Moshan, besides giving an idea on the subject of photography, thanked the members of the organization for organizing such an exhibition in the industrial city of Durgapur for the first time.
DAYA vows to carry forward this photography exhibition and competition in the memory of Dipak Mukhopadhyay on a much larger scale next year and every year.
