Social organization Durgapur Adda Young Association celebrated their 8th Foundation Day and 76th Independence Day of the country on 15th August 2022 through various events throughout the day.
National flag was hoisted at 9 am at Durgapur Adda Young Association’s one of the three ongoing endeavors ‘Jeevanpath Kendra – I’. The flag got hoisted by ‘Balika’, the woman who keeps the center clean. The students here, readout a write-up, pointing out that they now understand that they have to live in such a miserable poverty because of the fact that they are uneducated. They do not forget to tell that one day they will get the taste of true freedom by educating themselves. Also, 13 families of the students of ‘Jeevanpath Kendra – I’ were given double bed size mosquito nets by the organization.
By 10:30 am, at another of the three ongoing effort ‘Jeevanpath Kendra – II, the tricolour was hoisted by ‘Mithu Ram’, who keeps the center clean. The students there sang a song of Soumik Das, “Ektaa Emon Desh Hobaay Jataay Amaar Janmo Hok”.
An evening program was organized at Bidhan Bhawan of Durgapur Steel Township. 6 boys and 6 girls from socio-economically weaker families of Durgapur and adjacent areas who have achieved relatively good results in Madhyamik Exam 2022 were felicitated. Each of them were given a certificate, a packet of sweets and a gift coupon worth 3000 INR with which they can buy books as per their requirement from a particular store fixed by the organization within the next 13 months. Also, these 12 students were presented with a plant in a beautiful tub and an oath was read out by them, where they vowed, that apart from imparting the light of education to the marginal people of the society, they will take a positive role in the development of science-based rationality in the society by removing the darkness of all blind-faith and superstitions; they promised to stop all divisions among people in the name of religion, caste and creed.
Secretary of the organization Rajesh Sen, in his speech, told the members of the organization that all the members should be especially careful so that minor disagreements must not hinder the flow of the organization’s work.
Every audience was deeply moved by the presentation 22 students of ‘Sinchon’, another ongoing endeavor of Durgapur Adda Young Association. They presented a recital based on the poem ‘Sadhinata’ by renowned regional language poet Debbrata Singh.
Somnath Banerjee, one of the members of Durgapur Adda Young Association, enthralled everyone with his 8 songs in his customary style. One of the song being sung by Somnath Banerjee is a new version of the song “Haynar Roshanalaay Desh Tah Amaar” being written by DAYA member, to watch the song click HERE. Haimanti Karmakar, another member of the organization, enthralled the audience with 3 songs on the mouth organ.
Durgapur Adda Young Association’s drama troupe ‘Dimension’ staged the play “Bhalo Hitler”, which reveals a new face of the Hitlerian mentality of rulers in today’s society.
Ninth edition of organization’s six-monthly mouthpiece, ‘Roddur’ was unveiled on this occasion.
