DAYA Begun 2 Tailoring Schools To Empower Marginalized Women

Durgapur News Bureau, 18th June 2023: Social organization Durgapur Adda Young Association has begun two tailoring schools at two different locations of Durgapur with an aim is to empower the marginalized women and young women living in the respective localities.

The first tailoring school has begun its journey on 8th July 2023 at the Jeevan Path II centre being run by Durgapur Adda Young Association adjacent to the Durgapur Railway Station. This centre has been named after Dipak Mukhopadhyay, the man who was the assistant treasurer of Durgapur Adda Young Association and died due to Covid. 12 local women joined the classes here. Classes are being held on every Friday from 4 pm.

Begining of Bhudeb Karmakar Tailoring School

The second tailoring school has begun its journey on17th July 2023 at the Jeevan Path I centre being run by Durgapur Adda Young Association at Kamalpur Washing Plot adjacent to Durgapur Steel Township. This centre has been named after Bhudev Karmakar, who was responsible for keeping our Jeevan Path-1 center clean since the beginning of this center; we lost him during Covid. 27 interested women and young women from the area were present on the first day. All aspects of tailoring will be taught at this training center every Monday from 11:30 PM onwards. Incidentally, sewing machines for both of these training center have been provided free of cost to Durgapur Adda Young Association by Rotary Club of Aerocity Durgapur.
