DAYA News Bureau 11th October 2022: CISF Jawans were accused of beating up a toll plaza employee after stopping a vehicle for evading toll tax on the national highway in Durgapur. The incident occurred at Durgapur’s Banshkopa Toll Plaza in Kanksa. The CCTV footage video of the rampage has already gone viral. A complaint has been filed at the Kanksa police station. The police have started an investigation.
According to NHAI sources, the incident took place around 2 am on Sunday. A commercial vehicle with a number of CISF jawans were passing through gate number 16 of Banshkopa toll plaza. As the vehicle was commercial, the toll official Tanmoy Sinha asked for toll tax as soon as the car carrying the CISF jawans stopped near his kiosk. But, the person in the car identified himself as a CISF officer and denied to pay toll fee. Then the toll plaza worker wants to see the Identity Card, to which the situation became heated.
Allegedly, the CISF jawans got out of their vehicle and started beating Tanmoy Sinha. Meanwhile, due to this incident, the workers left the plaza and ran for their lives. The soldiers started searching for the workers. The whole incident was caught on CCTV. The situation calmed down only after police intervened. Toll Plaza employee Tanmoy Sinha was injured due to the beating.
Referring the incident, a written complaint has been lodged at Kanksa police station. Rakesh Thakur, Project Officer of Banshkopa Toll Plaza, said that a departmental investigation has been started.
On the other hand, the central force officers are in extreme embarrassment as the photos of the central force jawans creating ruckus at the Durgapur’s Banskopa toll plaza have gone viral. Though they denied to say anything in front of the camera, but said that an investigation will soon be enforced to punish the guilty. Meanwhile, the workers of Durgapur’s Kanksar Toll Plaza have joined demanding security.
