DAYA Sows Saplings on World Nature Conservation Day – 2019

On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day 2019, members of Durgapur Adda Young Association (DAYA) planted 69 saplings at the B-Zone LIC and Bidhan Chandra Institution meeting point just beside the wall of the DSP Township garage.

The World Nature Conservation Day is observed annually throughout the world on July 28 with an to create awareness about the need to preserve the environment and natural resources in order to keep the world healthy.

This special drive was taken in the morning hours of 28th July. Apart from the members of the organization, their family members and the 10 boys under DAYA’s ‘Sinchon’ project also participated in the effort with full enthusiasm and vitality under the scorching sun.

Here it needs to be mentioned that this particular area was partially covered with thick bushes and partially covered with garbage. After procuring due permission from Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) Authority the area was cleared on 24th July. DSP authority also helped us in making arrangement to restore the damaged fencing of the area.

The saplings were lifted from West Bengal Forest Department office at Muchipara, a day before. 69 saplings were planted on that day, maintain the minimum distance norm.

An oath was taken by all those present at the venue, so as to take all necessary steps to ensure proper growth of these saplings into a tree. A three member monitoring team was formed for this as well.
