36 Lakh Cash Recovered From Railway Passenger in Durgapur

DAYA News Bureau, 4 September 2022: Railway police patrolling the Durgapur Railway Station found 36 lakhs in cash from a middle aged person named Moolchand.

On Saturday night, the man, a resident of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh was observed to be moving in the platform number 4, with certain suspicious attributes. He was stopped by the GRP and initial interrogation revealed certain definite anomalies in his answers. Due to this inconsistency in his conversation, the railway police became more suspicious. They then searched his bag and a cash of 36b lakhs was found from the bag.

After not getting any answer as to why he was taking so much money with him he was arrested. Andal Railway Police OC Sujan Ghosh said that Moolchand was produced in the Asansol District Court on Saturday. A 10-day police custody application has been made to for questioning, where was that person going with so much money, who gave him such huge amount and whether there is a big ‘Hawala’ circle behind it or not.

According to GRP sources, the person was going to Howrah from Mumbai. He got down from the train at Durgapur station midway.
